Style is Forever
/These are a few of the items that I hope make a comeback this Summer. And even if these pieces don't make their way back to mainstream fashion, I'll probably find a way to rock them regardless. When it comes to personal style, I do believe that rules of fashion are meant to be broken. In the words of Ralph Lauren, the style maven himself,
"Style is very personal. It has nothing to do with fashion. Fashion is over quickly; style is forever."
My style changes by the day, because that's just how my personality is set up; one minute I'm care-free and girly, the next I'm casual tom-boy-ish. Duality is a thing for us complex modern day women and each of these items speak to different dimensions of my style.
1. Dyed/distress Daisy Dukes
Not to sound boastful, but my legs are-in my opinion-my best physical feature and I have no problem showing them off when the weather permits. A couple of years ago, I remember dyed/distressed high-waist shorts beginning to regain popularity. Recently, I was able to find a DIY tutorial on Youtube, similar to the style of ones pictured above. Like so many of the projects I have saved via Pinterest, I don't actually fulfill these miniature projects. Being that it's only April, I'm hoping to have enough time to try my hand at finding thrifty ways to upgrade my wardrobe before summer officially hits.
2. Jeffrey Campbell Litas
Honestly, I'm not even sure how I don't have these already, but I remember being completely obsessed with this style of shoe. Trends come and go and when they're here, it can sometimes be costly, so I'm pretty sure the reason had something to do with money. Nonetheless, I was in love and they were the first thing I ever gravitated towards that was super sexy and feminine. I didn't want a knock off either; the real deal or nothing. Priced anywhere between $150-$200 to this day, these shoes can complete the simplest of looks-jeans and a t-shirt-because these bad gyalsstand out enough, so that you really don't have to do too much outfit wise.
3. Adidas Crazy 8 x NBA All-Star Game 1998
If I were rich enough to be a sneaker head, I would be, but for now, most of the ones I gravitate to are way too expensive; blame luxurious taste. However, I love the way kicks are able to tell stories of our favorite athletes, such as the Adidas Crazy 8. These shoes were the same ones worn by the legendary and my personal favorite basketball player, Kobe Bryant, in the 1998 NBA All-Star game. In 1998, I was 8 years old and with the number itself 8 being such a significant symbol to me for so many different reasons, these kicks would be absolute perfection if I were to ever indulge.
