The Kid vs. The King and the Return of the Splash Brothers | NBA Opening Night
/Last night was the night we've all been waiting for, NBA Opening night, which started off with a home game for the Cavaliers vs. Boston Celtics. The weeks leading up to last night have been quite interesting, especially with all the shifts and changes happening within the league. The intrigue was mainly focused on the most obvious match up in the first game, which was Lebron James vs. former teammate, Kyrie Irving. With Gordon Hayward's injury, Kyrie was forced to step up to the plate and take on the challenge. In addition to that, the James-Wade era has recommenced, as the 14 year friendship will be showcased in the same team jerseys again.
Honestly, it was hard to watch the first game after Hayward's fall; I've never seen anything like that. However, I was able to keep up with the highlights of the game, receiving all the play-by-play from #NBAtwitter. Is Kyrie in a much better position? Are the Cavs better off without him? Will King James and the Cavs dominate again this season? How is Isaiah Thomas, who was benched the entire game, adjusting to being in Cleveland? These are all questions who's answers will unfold in the coming weeks. As for right now, Cleveland takes the win 102-99 to start the season.
Moving on to the second game of the night, Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets at Oracle Arena. In a close high-scoring game against the 2017 NBA Champs and a debut night for Chris Paul, Houston looked really good coming into the 4th. It was Nick Young's debut as well for Golden State and from the looks of it, he's becoming quickly acclimated to being on the Warriors' roster and playing alongside the Splash Brothers, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, the notorious NBA duo.
The night ends with a 1 point difference in favor of the Rockets at 122-121.
