Letter from the Editor | Cheers! to 3 Years and a New Era

Sometimes, all there is to do is just start…

What was once an idea to launch a sports blog turned into an online publication dedicated to sports, style, music, and culture; one that I’m seriously so proud of. It’s not like I’m inherently consistent, because there’s plenty of room for improvement in that area alone, but being able to maintain content on a site like this for 3 consecutive years speaks for itself. I’m proud of the individuals who are a part of my little All Star team, I’m proud of how far we’ve all come, I’m proud of the brand overall; and - God willing - what we’ve been able to establish here will only continue getting to grow, evolve, and live up to its potential..

Even coming out of year 3 and moving into year 4, I still consider The Sky Box Suite brand as an entity that is constantly in transition to becoming something bigger, something better. When the site went live back in 2016, I had no clear direction of what I wanted this to be; all I knew is that my love and passion for sports, music, and culture (later incorporating style) needed a space of its own.

While in the process of launching The Sky Box Suite, which was - essentially - the resurrection of my O.G. sports blog, The Sky Box Chronicles, I vaguely remember having a conversation with my right hand man, B. Braxton, who is now the sports editor of The Sky Box Suite, and I just remember him being just as excited as I was! As long as I’ve known him, he’s always rooted me on and always encouraged me to go for it. To have that kind of love and support from a fellow sports fan - and someone I call friend - meant (and still means) the world to me. In true team player fashion, he’s the person that got me going…and kept me going by discouraging feelings of defeat whenever I felt like I wasn’t doing enough. Year after year, I witness gratitude of genuine supporters in my corner increase.

Although I didn’t plan anything particularly special for the 3 year anniversary of TheSkyBoxSuite.com, however, the wheels are already turning for year 4. I have a feeling 2020 is going to a step into something greater than I could have ever imagined and I know with proper planning and execution, we’ll see it come into fruition. Until then, I’m keeping my head in the game and focusing on being better each day and in turn, I’ll be able to deliver quality content and delegate effectively moving forward.

Procrastination is often times my biggest rival, including writing this month’s Letter from the Editor, which didn’t get started until this morning. Sue me. Knowing what steps to take, which content to put out, which deadlines to set, which ideas to implement next can be daunting and stressful, but sometimes…sometimes, all there is to do is just start. So what’s next? I don’t know, but in this moment, it’s time to celebrate 3 amazing, worth while years of building and developing The Sky Box Suite and Cheers! to a new era.

Stay Tuned.
