Tidal Wave Wednesdays no.5 | The Tidal Wave is back...NBA Conference Finals, WNBA Updates, + More!

There's been a few changes on #TheSkyBoxSuite as far as content is concerned. Because I've really been wanting to narrow down which sports I cover, I'll be focusing solely on basketball and football (collegiate and professional) from here on out, or at least until further notice. Initially, I wanted to do it all, but considering this is a one woman army, so I'd rather focus more on the quality and consistency of the content I'm putting out than trying to tackle everything on my own.

This post is long overdue, so let's get right to it:

NBA Playoff SZN: Conference Finals

  • Boston Celtics shook the world recently by dominating the series in a 7 game match up Monday nightagainst the Washington Wizards. In just a few hours (it's currently 4:30PM ET), they will face the well-rested Cleveland Cavaliers with a home court advantage. Needless to say, what a time to be a Celtics fan.
  • Meanwhile in the west, Golden State Warriors lead the series over San Antonio Spurs. Last night in Game 2 of Western Conference Finals, the Spurs really appeared somewhat defeated, but head honcho in charge, Mr. Gregg Popovich has this amazing, historical way of making things happen under pressure, so I'm convinced they still have plenty of time left to recover. Plus, the last thing I want to see is another GSW vs. CLE faceoff in the finals.
  • Recently, I wrote the Girlfriend's Guide to Surviving Playoff SZN, just for fun. Ladies, you should definitely check it out!!!

  • Skylar Diggins is married!!! Finally, on May 4, 2017 Skylar and her long time beau and college sweetheart, Daniel Smith, made it official and I couldn't be happier for the two of them!
  • May 13, 2017 was the official WNBA tip-off, presented by Verizon. Season opener game took place at Madison Square Garden, New York Liberty vs. San Antonio Stars, which was dominated by Liberty (73-64), followed by Seattle Storm vs. Los Angeles Sparks (78-68; Sparks), and Atlanta Dream vs. Connecticut Suns (81-74; Dream).

NBA Draft Lottery

.@MagicJohnson on the 2 pick: “I was very excited and happy. Happy for our organization, happy for our team, happy for our fans.” #LakeShowpic.twitter.com/KzQLXhUMba — Los Angeles Lakers (@Lakers) May 17, 2017
  • The top 3 picks are in for the annual NBA Draft, which takes place on June 22 this year:
    1. Boston Celtics
    2. Los Angeles Lakers
    3. Philidelphia 76ers
  • Sidenote: Although I couldn't be more thrilled that Lakers have no.2 pick, I'm really nervous about Lonzo Ball, who's father really seems to be set that his son will be apart of #LakeShow next season. It's not that I have an issue with Lonzo's athletic ability and to be quite honest, I don't necessarily mind how LaVar's chooses to parent his children, however, I do know that if Lakers decide to take a chance on him, Mr. Ball is going to be a problem and not a good look for the franchise itself. Not here for it...at all.
