Letter from the Editor | Back with a Vengeance

“Stepping into the office to write the latest Letter from the Editor after being away for so long is like revisiting a once cherished home that has been abandoned for a period of time. The lawn and outdoor landscaping has been poorly maintained, the interior is desolate. And though I am walking in with fresh hope - to revitalize it by keeping some of the original components in tact - in my head, I’m still structuring some sort of game plan/strategy to make it 10x’s better than it was before.”

- Letter from the Editor, August 2019

In August of 2019, I assumed I was prepared to make a comeback after the Unexpected Hiatus. Although I was shaking with anxiety and my nerves were on edge, I truly did think I was ready to get back to work, but that wasn’t completely accurate; my head wasn’t in the game just yet and I still wasn’t performing at my best level. Each time I attempted to get back on track, I either came up with a bunch of excuses or my game was off entirely. I said in that months letter that I would never go months without producing any content again, yet went 2 whole months without posting…in the final quarter of 2019 no less, where keeping up the momentum of the game matters the most.

As a result, I let myself and my team down…and probably a few other people too by leading with false expectations of what was to come. I over-promised and under-delivered. None of this is not to sound defeated; just making observations in order to properly evaluate where I’ve been and execute according what direction this brand is headed in.

Now that new excitement has rushed in now that we’ve officially crossed over into a new decade, it’s like my passion did a hard reset overnight. Before I know it, I’m waking up everyday with new found tenacity and inspiration. Therefore, NOW is the perfect time to touch reset towards a fresh start to enter a brand new era. And by understanding the clear difference between wanting better and doing better moving forward, I’m able to position myself accordingly, make the necessary adjustments, and rededicate myself to the vision I have for The Sky Box Suite brand. This time I’m focused. I’m determined. I am ready.

Needless to say, we’re baccckkk with a vengeance…like Michael Jordan’s sweet return to the NBA and the Chicago Bulls in ‘95.

  2. Remain consistent

  3. Stretch to the max, but don’t break; dive deeper, but don’t drown.
