Letter from the Editor | Keeping Hope Alive
/With the COVID-19 pandemic at bay, everyone has had to readjust to the unexpected. There aren’t any stats to distinguished who was prepared, but I think it’s safe to say that most of us did not expect this kind of shift to take place; businesses shutting down, mandates in order to keep people at home, the loss of jobs, sports being canceled for the remainder of the season, etc. However, I don’t think it’s been as bad as the news has sensationalized it to be.
Personally, this has been an unprecedented opportunity for me to get back to the things I’m passionate about, to the projects I’ve put off for way too long, and just in general reset button on different aspects of my life that needed attention. Although I understand how fortunate I am compared to individuals and families who are struggling to maintain, let alone readjust, I’m still grateful that I’m able to. I’m thankful that I’ve invested a substantial amount of time and energy into my own business ideas and working on my side hustle full time before all of this took place.
I am proud to be a part of the collective who truly believe that we will emerge from this period better than ever before. I predict that businesses will start to reevaluate their practices in order to implement better ones. Health will be a bigger concern. People will be more cognizant of how they interact with the world outside of them. Sports will continue to serve a bigger purpose than just entertainment. More than anything, I anticipate all of us being able to safely exist in the world again, hopefully sooner than later.
It’s vital during this time to not allow fear to distract us from the bigger picture; to stay attune to our goals and continue building a sense of community, even in the midst of a global crisis. There are more things to asses, work that needs to be done, but all in all, it’s going to boil down to full cooperation and focus on doing whatever is in our power to do individually.
As for this month on The Sky Box Suite, I’m finally finding my groove again. It’s been difficult to navigate, in lieu of everything that has transpired thus far in 2020, but I am ready to keep pushing the kind of content I believe in.
Stay tuned.
